CTPF was honored to participate in the Retired Teachers Association of Chicago’s (RTAC) 100th Anniversary Luncheon, celebrating a century of partnership and advocacy on behalf of retired Chicago educators.

During the event, CTPF Executive Director Carlton W. Lenoir, Sr., reflected on RTAC’s historic role in protecting retiree pensions and health insurance benefits and thanked RTAC’s Board, President Maria J. Rodriguez, and volunteers for their continued engagement and support. Remarks also highlighted RTAC’s strong advocacy for key legislative priorities, including the health insurance spending initiative, and reaffirmed the Fund’s long‑term financial strength and resilience.

CTPF presented RTAC with a commemorative gift in recognition of its 100 years of service to retirees and the broader pension community. 

Every school is encouraged to have a CTPF Pension Representative. 

Pension representatives (Pension Reps) are valued members of CTPF. They help strengthen the connection between teachers and CTPF and support CTPF Trustee elections. 

On May 6, 2026, Trustees and staff from the Chicago Teachers’ Pension Fund (CTPF) held a successful lobby day in Springfield, IL. The event educated lawmakers about legislative priorities and included a subject matter hearing on CTPF’s current health insurance funding bill HB4396. Executive Director Carlton W. Lenoir, Sr., CTPF Trustee Maria J. Rodriguez (who also serves as the Retired Teachers Association of Chicago President), Recording Secretary Lois Nelson, and Vice President Quentin S. Washington, offered in-person testimony urging lawmakers to advance the bill. The testimony was supported by more than 800 witness slips filed by CTPF members and stakeholders. 

Members who participate in the AARP Medicare Supplement Plan F (UnitedHealthcare) recently received a letter from UnitedHealthcare (UHC) with information regarding a June 1, 2026, rate increase. Plan F premiums are based on age, gender, vary by geographic area, and are determined directly by UHC.

Jacquelyn Price Ward, President of the Chicago Teachers’ Pension Fund (CTPF) Board of Trustees, received the Chicago Defender's 2026 Women of Excellence Award. President Price Ward, along with 50 other honorees, was recognized during the awards ceremony on March 20, 2026. 

During their March 19, 2026, meeting, The Board of Trustees of the Chicago Teachers’ Pension Fund (CTPF) adopted a resolution expressing its appreciation to Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul and the Office of the Illinois Attorney General. The resolution follows the March 13, 2026, announcement by the Attorney General’s office of a conviction in a case involving the theft of more than $100,000 in CTPF pension benefits.  

During their March 19, 2026, meeting the Chicago Teachers’ Pension Fund (CTPF) Board of Trustees adopted a resolution honoring the Retired Teachers Association of Chicago (RTAC) in recognition of its 100th Anniversary and a century of advocacy on behalf of Chicago’s retired educators. 

The Chicago Teachers' Pension Fund (CTPF) announced the release of its 2026 Economic Impact Statement. CTPF made $1.6 billion in direct payments to annuitants living in Illinois in 2025. Those payments had a $2.2 billion impact on the Illinois economy, supporting more than 12,055 jobs in the State. The Buck Stays Here: Understanding the Economic Impact of CTPF Benefit Payments on the State of Illinois and the City of Chicago is produced annually and details CTPF's impact on the State of Illinois and the City of Chicago. The report includes economic impact by legislative district and Chicago Ward.

Senate Bill 2861, which is identical to HB 4576, will be heard in the Illinois Senate Pension Committee on March 11, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. 

 This legislation requires employers to maintain payroll records for at least five years, aligning the record retention period with the CTPF Audit cycle. The change ensures that CTPF has access to the necessary records for conducting employer audits.
