The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) have announced Medicare premium rates for 2021. CTPF Trustees voted to provide a 60% health insurance premium subsidy in 2021. The subsidy is set annually and has been at 50% since 2015.
On June 5, 2024, the Governor signed legislation extending the allowable number of days per school year on which a retiree can return to work on a temporary and non-annual or hourly basis without having a pension cancelled from 120 to 140 through June 30, 2027. This legislation was originally set to expire on June 30, 2024.
If you have CTPF Health Insurance and enroll in an additional outside plan, you will be disenrolled by Medicare and lose your CTPF Health Insurance coverage and Medicare Part B subsidy. Reinstatement is very difficult and may result in additional penalties.
