Trustees Recognized at BOT Meeting

The CTPF Board of Trustees gathered on Thursday, September 21, 2023, for their monthly meeting to conduct the business of the Fund. One of the first orders of business was to recognize former Trustees with a distinguished service award presented to Miquel A. Lewis, who served as a Trustee in 2023. Trustee Miguel del Valle was also recognized for his service to the Fund, and both former Trustees will receive plaques in recognition of their contributions to CTPF and its members.

Miguel del Valle was appointed President of the Chicago Board of Education by Mayor Lori Lightfoot and began serving in June 2019. He is a retired elected official and was the first Latino Senator elected to the Illinois State Senate, serving in this capacity for 20 years. After serving in the Illinois General Assembly, Trustee del Valle was appointed and then elected as the Clerk for the City of Chicago. He has also served on various committees, boards, and commissions, including the Illinois Student Assistance Commission, Advance Illinois, Illinois Federation for Community Schools, and the Illinois Pathways Advisory Council. Trustee del Valle is a graduate of Chicago Public Schools and holds an M.A. in Guidance and Counseling from Northeastern Illinois University.

Trustee Lewis is a lifelong resident of Chicago and has been committed to serving a population of children that are often overlooked. He is currently the Acting Director/Chief Probation Officer for the Cook County Juvenile Probation and Court Services Department, and serves on the Supreme Court Committee on Juvenile Courts. Trustee Lewis has fifteen years of experience in forensic and organizational psychology in the public safety sector of local government. Trustee Lewis received his B.A. in Psychology from Southern Illinois University and graduated from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology, where he received a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and an M.A. in Counseling Psychology.
