The Chicago Teachers’ Pension Fund Welcomes Emma Lozano and Ed Bannon to Board of Trustees

During the Board of Trustees meeting on May 15, 2025, the Chicago Teachers’ Pension Fund (CTPF) welcomed Emma Lozano and Ed Bannon, who were sworn in as Trustees representing the Chicago Board of Education. Trustee Lozano will serve a term through October 31, 2028, and Trustee Bannon will serve through October 31, 2027. 

“We offer a warm welcome to Trustees Lozano and Bannon,” said Executive Director Carlton W. Lenoir, Sr. “Their dedication to education, community empowerment, and advocacy will bring fresh perspectives and strengthen our Board."

Trustee Lozano is a committed advocate for education and immigrant rights. Her initiatives have influenced public schools, particularly in promoting bilingual education and managing overcrowding issues. Lozano's activism contributed to the founding of the Rudy Lozano School, and she is nationally recognized as an advocate for the rights of undocumented immigrants. 

Trustee Bannon, a lifelong Chicagoan and grassroots community organizer, has been part of the Dever Elementary School Local School Council since 2015. Bannon began a career in community journalism with Lerner Community Newspapers and later worked in economic development on the Northwest Side, helping revitalize Six Corners. His volunteer efforts include organizing youth sports, improving access to nature areas, and leading library clean-ups.
