Carlton W. Lenoir, Sr., Executive Director of the Chicago Teachers’ Pension Fund (CTPF), received the 2026 Chicago Defender Men of Excellence Award. Executive Director Lenoir was among 50 honorees recognized during the awards ceremony on June 12, 2026.
This year’s theme, Power Moves: Men Who Move the Culture Forward, celebrated leaders whose work has shaped industries and elevate communities. From boardrooms to classrooms, courtrooms to community spaces, these leaders embody resilience, innovation, and lasting impact.

I am grateful for the opportunity to serve and to contribute to work that supports Chicago’s educators and their families,” said Carlton W. Lenoir, Sr.

Lenoir serves as the Executive Director of CTPF, one of the nation’s oldest public pension systems, established in 1895. Under Lenoir’s leadership, the Fund has strengthened its focus on transparency, accountability, member service, and clear communication with stakeholders, while continuing its longstanding commitment to inclusive investing.

A results-oriented pension professional, Lenoir has more than 35 years of public service experience across all facets of public pension fund administration. He began his career at CTPF as an Active Accounts Counselor and advanced into senior leadership roles before holding executive positions with public pension systems in Georgia and Central Illinois. He returned to CTPF as Executive Director following a national search.
Lenoir holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from American Intercontinental University and a Juris Doctorate from Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School.
