Angela Miller-May Speaks at NASP

On January 16, 2020, Chicago Teachers’ Pension Fund (CIO) Angela Miller-May served as a panelist for the National Association of Securities Professionals (NASP) Diverse & Emerging Manager Forum. Miller-May is a sought after expert on pension plans and diversity.

The program title, “CIOs Speak: Updates & Perspectives on State Pension Plans,” featured  Miller-May, along with Johara Farhadieh, Executive Director & Chief Investment Officer for the State of Illinois, and Steve Yoon, Investment Officer at the Municipal Employees’ Annuity & Benefit Fund of Chicago. The panel was moderated by Brian F. Collins, Executive Director of the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund.

The discussion focused on Illinois’ legislation regarding minority firms’ participation in managing pension plan funds, and how this legislation could be replicated in other states. CTPF currently invests 44.4% of its assets with minority, women, and disabled business enterprise firms.
