Following a divorce a member will need to file a Qualified Illinois Domestic Relations Order or QILDRO. This court order is required by law in order to execute the retirement provisions listed in the divorce decree. A QILDRO specifies how to divide a member’s contributions, be it:

• Total contributions
• Survivors or marital portion
• Monthly pension benefit
• Single-sum death benefit

It is important that all parties concerned understand what this document means and how to execute it properly. Please thoroughly read the following packet before attempting to file an order with the Chicago Teachers’ Pension Fund:
